The VapeAway app (the "App") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use VapeAway, how it is used, and how it is protected. By using VapeAway, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Summary: VapeAway does not require an account. Your progress, quit-journey data, chat history, inspiration board, rewards, and vaping profile stay on your device. We use a limited, privacy-first set of third-party services for anonymous analytics, in-app advertising (for free users), and purchase processing.

Health Notice

VapeAway is a wellness support tool and is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition, including nicotine dependence. Information and AI-generated responses in the app are for educational and motivational purposes only and are not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment — especially before changing any medication or if you experience severe withdrawal symptoms.

1. Information Stored Only on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers:

- Your vaping profile (e.g., prior consumption habits, entered during onboarding to compute statistics).
- Your quit progress: vape-free days, milestones, rewards, streaks, money saved.
- Your conversations with the in-app AI chat coach are sent in real time to the AI provider for processing; the transcript history shown in the app is kept locally on your device.
- Your personal inspiration board (photos, quotes, reminders).
- App preferences and notification settings.

If you uninstall the app, this data is deleted with it.

2. Information Processed Off-Device

A limited set of information leaves the device for the following purposes:

Anonymous usage analytics (PostHog): we use PostHog to understand aggregate feature usage and improve the app. Events typically include screen views, feature taps, purchase funnel milestones, and crash/error diagnostics. The payload does not include your name or email (we don't ask for either). A device-level anonymous identifier generated by PostHog may be used to group events from the same device.

AI chat messages (AI provider): when you use the AI chat, the text of your messages is sent to our AI provider for processing to generate a reply. Messages are used only to respond to you in session. Do not share sensitive personal or medical information in the chat.

In-app advertising (Google AdMob, free tier only): free users may see ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect the advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Android Advertising ID on Android), approximate location, device info, and interaction with ads, subject to your device's advertising permissions. Premium subscribers do not see ads.

Purchases (Apple / Google): when you subscribe to VapeAway Premium, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive confirmation that a purchase or renewal occurred, but we do not receive your credit card number or full billing details.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information above is used to:

- Provide and improve VapeAway's functionality.
- Display progress tracking, health milestones, and AI-chat responses.
- Perform anonymous, aggregate analytics to prioritize improvements and detect crashes.
- Process subscription purchases and verify entitlements.
- Serve ads (free tier only) and respect your OS-level advertising preferences.
- Respond to your inquiries or feedback by email.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except as described in this Policy or as required by law.

4. Data Storage and Security

On-device data is stored using Apple's and Google's platform-provided secure storage APIs. Data transmitted to third-party services (PostHog, AI provider, AdMob, Apple, Google) is sent over HTTPS/TLS. Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

5. Sharing of Information

We share information only as described here:

With service providers: PostHog (analytics), our AI chat provider (to generate responses), Google AdMob (ads for free users), and Apple / Google (purchase processing). Each provider processes data subject to their own privacy policy and contractual commitments.

For legal compliance: if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.

6. International Users

VapeAway is available worldwide. Depending on the third-party services used, your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws (including the United States and the European Union). By using the app you consent to such transfers, subject to the safeguards required by applicable law.

7. Third-Party Links

The VapeAway app may include links to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. Please review their privacy policies separately.

8. Children's Privacy

VapeAway is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

9. Updates to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted in the VapeAway app and/or on our website. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can also:
- Reset or limit the advertising identifier used by AdMob in your device's system settings.
- Disable AI chat usage by not opening the chat feature.
- Remove all on-device data by uninstalling the app.
